“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19

Thank you for your good work and faithful service. We met our financial goals for this year by the grace of GOD and with the help of your love and largesse.

This year:

  • When ten senior citizens in our community were about to lose their electricity in the heat of the summer, we kept the air conditioners and fans running by negotiating and helping to pay minimum utility payments.
  • When three of our member families were threatened with losing their homes in the mortgage crisis, your church stepped in to help negotiate new payment terms. All four families stayed in their homes.
  • When four families saw the main breadwinner of the family lose employment, we stepped in to offer rent support and small loans to keep the families together.
  • We gave out 20 backpacks with school supplies to children in need.
  • St James AME Church hosted our third annual Ruth Roberson Share-Day, providing clothing, shoes and household goods for families in need.

Of course we still keep the ministries running that you expect for your church to maintain:

  • We encouraged and supported five incarcerated individuals and their families with Christmas baskets.
  • St James AME joined  40 other congregations of faith in the Faith And Action for Strength Together Network addressing issue of Crime & Drugs, School Behavior and Affordable Housing throughout Pinellas County.

We have built our Tuesday night Bible study into a thriving service and time of learning and fellowship.

Most recently at the opening of the 69th. Session of the West Coast Annual Conference Debutante & Masters program your seed investment allowed us to sponsor seven young people  in an elegant, rites of passage ceremony.

Shaneeka Hearns

Your support will help us to tune an old piano, repair a busted snare drum unit, install emergency lights in the sanctuary, replace some very old windows, build a webpage and connect our donated Apple computer lab to the internet.

Saint James recently celebrated its 109 year anniversary.  But we are not resting on our history.
Our  congregation is committed to meeting the needs of God’s people through our Justice Ministry as professed in Micah 6:8.

Indeed the LORD does require that we do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our Creator.
